In the first two books most of the characters were associated with computers and software, and the action was set in London and the home counties (apart from a murder on a jolly to Barcelona) – and maybe in the last decade or two of the twentieth century.
The next book moves back over a century to Northamptonshire in 1844,
in the steam equivalent of the dotcom frenzy. Railways spread like wild fire over the English landscape, fortunes were lost and won, travel time to the Americas dropped by half, Britain had the largest empire the world had ever seen. All this and more is background to a murder (of course) and massive changes to the lives of the protagonists.
I hope to finish by the end of the year, lifestyle permitting.
